SIGNS OF AFRICAN SWINE FEVER
- High fever of 40°C or even higher.
- Loss of Appetite.
- Lethargy, weakness and reluctance to move.
- Red or bluish-purple discoloration of the skin.
- Especially in the extremities, ears, snout, and abdomen.
- Coughing, difficulty in breathing or nasal discharge.
- Vomiting and diarrhea which may be bloody.
- In pregnant sows, abortions or stillbirths.
- Death of piglets.
- In some cases, convulsions, trembling, or ataxia.
ASF is highly contagious among pigs and can spread rapidly within herds, leading to high mortality rates.
